Pros

The job was a little laid back at times. Work was not as stressful as other similar positions (other admins, exc. assistants).

Cons

Manager had favorites and it was obvious, didn't bother hiding it. Group of 5 who worked in same dept. A co-worker once through the company badge at our desk and stormed off. We told manager and nothing was done. You had to tip toe around certain people and or agree to everyone else's opinions other wise you were the black sheep of you're work group. 2 people left after I left because work got too negative to stay.

Pros

Most of the time I find my job very interesting, like putting together a complex puzzle. Fairly flexible work/life balance.

Cons

Many mangers/partners have become so far removed from the actual service they provide, that they can no longer anticipate the time it takes to do the actual work, resulting in unrealistic expectations. Pressure is passed down the ranks where it consistently falls on the shoulders of a staff who is overworked, underpaid, and severely under appreciated. So many times I have been forced to plow through complicated issues because my manager or their manager promised results without conferring with the "boots on the ground" people. I work on a higher revenue producing team with eight other staff members. With bigger revenue not only comes with higher value projects, but a higher volume of projects as well. You are spread thin over so many different tasks that you leave the office with your head spinning most days. Project bonuses are more consistent with a larger team, but 3% dispersed over multiple, or sometimes all nine, staff members is not exactly the great motivator it is supposed to be. Especially when the people above you shouting, "I don't care how, just get it done," are walking away with 5% to 10% for themselves.
