Pros

The benefits are excellent. They really do offer some of the best health insurance options. The pay in general seems to be above average in comparison to similar roles in the South Florida area. There is great emphasis in women in leadership and internal employee inclusion programs.

Cons

Plagued with politics, egos and misalignment to the overall strategy. The under performers are often rewarded based on relationships and not performance. There is much internal conflict within some teams and the fact that leadership is aware of the internal issues, it is poorly addressed if at all. Overall, a good place to work with the potential to be great, if some leaders move out and better ones move in.

Pros

If anyone visits the Ryder Alumni Network on Facebook you'll quickly recognize that many of the old-time former employees loved their time at Ryder. Ryder was a company that valued its people and its people valued senior management and Ryder's customers. There was true employee engagement before engagement was the latest consultant buzzword. Ryder people cared about the company, our customers, each other and the communities in which we operated.

Cons

As one of those long-ago employees, it is disappointing to see the negative reviews posted about Ryder today. It seems the company has moved away from the values that made it a great place to work. This is not just a "everything was better in my day" rant, but a call to senior management to return the brand to its former glory and prominence.

Pros

Most of the lower level employees and some of the management are good people.

Cons

Ryder has a terrible internal business structure. At each rental location there are essentially 3 business being run, The rental side, the leasing side, and the shop that maintains both the rental and lease trucks. They all operate under different P&L statements which leads to plenty of in house bickering. Trucks break down, people don't return trucks on time, lease vehicles break down and take priority for rental vehicles, and management guarantees rentals when there are no trucks available leaving you to scramble to find an available one.
