Pros

The atmosphere at the corporate headquarters is friendly and professional. The cafeteria is amazing, and there are other conveniences as well (gift shop, coffee bar, credit union, gym, dry cleaning and occasional 'fairs' with extras--like crafts, etc). It values those with a military background and you will do well if you have one, to help you navigate within the structure/hierarchy of the company. Work and life are fairly balanced, and there is an 'old tradition' feel to the way they don't expect work to happen during non-business hours.

Cons

The company values consistency--a byproduct of needing to report quarterly to shareholders. Don't expect dramatic shifts, new technology or excitement over significant innovation unless they have created a committee to vet the idea, presented the idea to a board and gained approval from multiple senior leaders. Change happens slowly, and often times it is behind that of the competitions. But, it does happen. There is a formal communication pipeline (hierarchy must be respected and it is more top to bottom than vice versa) so while management alerts employees about news, it feels more one-way and can cause employees to gossip because they don't have an outlet to discuss their concerns to higher ups.

Pros

No micro managing/able to wear casual clothing.

Cons

The most toxic work environment that I’ve ever been a part of. Only landed large clients if the boss wants to hook up with your roommate or if your his “friend” outside of work. Everyone hates this guy by the way. There is a reason why half of the office got laid off. Wouldn’t be surprised if this office went under before 2025. Forgot to mention the lack of effort being put in by everyone. The office became so toxic that 0 effort was being put in by everyone by the end. Management lost the attention of the office by Jan. 2023 and was never able to recover. Good luck if you are hired here. I would NOT recommend it.

Pros

Ryder does offer job security as it takes a lot to be terminated. Unlike other sales organizations in which you would be put on a performance improvement plan & eventually terminated for not hitting your numbers, Ryder keeps you onboard.

Cons

The base pay is abysmal and not based on the current cost of living. Despite constant negative feedback regarding poor compensation executive management digs in its heels, insisting it pays very well. The pay was fair in 2018 but in 2023 it is woefully insufficient. There are no cost of living increases. You'll be lucky to receive a 2% annual raise regardless of how much tenure you have. Upper management seems totally disconnected from those of us on the frontlines. They make unnecessary changes that only make the job more unpleasant - like unveiling a brand new website that wasn't needed and did not work at all. At one point in time, when the economy was good and the department was young I thought I'd found a career at a great organization. As time has gone on it is obvious that it is just another dead end job
