Pros

People are mission driven, professional, reflective and willing to do whatever is needed to get students what they need. Site Directors are knowledgeable and caring. Tutors are a combination of coaches and cheerleaders. They work hard to get students to improve their math abilities and increase their confidence. Administration is well meaning and working towards making necessary improvements.

Cons

There is a lot of stress associated with working in high needs schools. Also, the physical work environment can be less that professional as some Chicago schools are in need of serious updating.

Pros

My favorite thing about working at SAGA Innovations is the collaboration and problem solving that happens on a day to day basis. We are encouraged to think outside the box and given a chance to share best practices with each other.

Cons

Most frustrating, but seems to be getting better, is the communication between cities. We operate in New York City and Chicago. There are somethings that overlap and some things that don't and I feel that in the past; messaging and policies have differed. Recently this summer though, SAGA was working on reorganizing and I've seen a lot of changes from management to be more clear.

Pros

The mission if the company.

Cons

There is no truly useful feedback that is given. All of the feedback is very SAGA specific and because the professional landscape is limited it is useless for most of your professional life.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We believe so strongly in the feedback loop: supervisors should give feedback to their employees to help them grow, and employees should give feedback to their supervisors to help them grow. We are sorry you do not feel that management was truthful to you. We are certain there was no intent to mislead anyone; we are always looking to ensure that our communication is clear, honest and frequent and if we failed there, we will do better. Furthermore, this year we are adding a new role at SAGA that will focus specifically on professional development and alumni support.
