Pros

Great bonuses: Referring friends who have TS/SCI + fullscope polygraph gets you a $500 bonus. Great pay: Cleared software engineers with 5 years experience typically get $48,000/yr.

Cons

Management makes decisions based on blogs. 401k eligibility goes from on to off to on based on what position/billet you're in. Frequently have to pay for supplies such as PCs, router, VIsual Studio, or Zend Studio Have to timeshare equipment (AM and PM shifts for the same PC) Managers get to use your cube as their additional storage area for boxes, books, swag, other office supplies Managers save program funds by not reimbursing for customer directed travel expenses (like hotel, food, conference fees) Division manager think that a qualified project lead is a "go-getter" fresh out of college Security frequently misplaces paperwork causing long delays in processing

Pros

There are some VERY smart people who work with the company. Once you are will connected, it appears to be nearly impossible to lose your job.

Cons

Poor communication from senior management. Lack of leadership. The pioneer attitude that made the company great to work for at one time has been replaced with a "I'll do whatever you say if it'll save my job" mentality that is bringing progress to a grinding halt. Promotions are often based on who you know not your work performance.

Pros

There is plenty of opportunity for advancement for those who truly desire it. Continuing education is encouraged and supported financially.

Cons

I can't really think of any downsides to working at SAIC other than the fact that so much of the 401k is tied to company stock--but even that has been a positive in years past.
