Pros

Highly rated ethical company, and I've certainly never seen an ethics issue. In addition, despite the conservative population that SAIC recruits (retired military in many cases), sexual orientation is listed specifically in the non-discrimination contract, and women are generally treated fairly, despite individual employees' issues that may or may not exist. SAIC is international in scope, and exists most places in the US. They're working on doing better at moving employees within SAIC rather than losing them, so even if you may move, opportunities may exist elsewhere in the company.

Cons

Each business unit is run separately (although corporate is trying to change that), and so there are variations across business units. My unit depends on relatively short-term government contracts, so there's not always consistency for what you'll be working on from year to year. On the other hand, I have a wide enough variety of skills that I can shift pretty easily among projects. I don't recommend SAIC if you want to do the same thing forever and forever.

Pros

Lots of openings. Ability to move about. Seems to be something for everybody. Overall pay is not bad, in general. Every office and division is different, some better than others and vice versa.

Cons

Losing a lot of good people due to lack of communication and direction. Some substandard development due to tight and usually constricting timelines and budget (welcome to the contractor world). Senior management does not provide good vision and direction, seem more interested in the bottom dollar than keeping and building good teams. Lack of incentives to further education and professional knowledge. Lack of reward for doing a good job.

Pros

You do get to work on some pretty cool technology, though they never let me work on what I wanted to.

Cons

My cube was close to the stairs of my floor so I constantly had senior management and army officers walking by. This resulted in numerous talks with my supervisor as to how I was decorating the cube. Though I heard that other departments are better and encourage more individuality.
