Pros

good benefits, company events, tuition reimbursement

Cons

rampant sexism, good ol' boy culture (cronyism), no job security (constant threat of being let go or fired), low pay compared to competitors, disorganized, serious disconnect between managers and survey techs, no vision (let go a large group of people because markets were not diversified and heavily focused on oil and gas), no loyalty to employees, high turn over rate

Pros

SAM is a great company that does so much for their employees. It's a friendly, family and employee centered environment with no arbitrary rules. The company and managers give you the tools to grow in your career and truly support that growth, whether it's in your own department or another. Departments share resources with other departments and offices to make it a more collaborative. There are many other benefits outside the typical healthcare, 401k, etc. There are free breakfast tacos on Wednesday, daily fresh fruit and monthly events. As mentioned, SAM gives back to their employees in ways that can't be put on a benefits sheet. They sent volunteers to help rebuild employee's homes that were affected by Hurricane Harvey. They give away a $10,000 scholarship to an employee's family member attending college and are encouraged to do so many volunteer hours for the community. It feels like a company that may have existed 30 years ago; where the employees do good work, are rewarded/appreciative and stay until retirement.

Cons

SAM is growing rapidly so they have their growing pains but seem to managing it pretty well.

SAM Companies Response

We are pleased to hear that you are having a great experience working for SAM. We have progressed in many ways over the year, and continue to find opportunities to support our employees as our company grows. Our firm is founded on a set of Core Values that serve as a guide in all things we do. We take care of our People because they work hard to provide Excellence in Service to our clients. We find it equally important to partner with external organizations because all of us are capable of making an impact in our local Community. Teamwork is a fundamental key that opens the door to new opportunities, and we work smarter when we share resources and collaborate with our offices, nationwide. Your positive outlook about SAM is encouraging, and we hope to continue educating and inspiring those we interact with, daily. Thank you for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

Pros

There is not a single good reason to work here.

Cons

Unhappy people who live in fear of their managers. Managers rule through intimidation. Management is ridiculous. I think they took a class on how to be a corporate hell hole. God help you if you ruffle a superiors feathers. This company loves to hire and fire many temporary workers. Management is dishonest and the whole structure is pathetic. Can't wait to leave this hell. They try to make up for all they lack with breakfast tacos. What a joke.
