Pros

Fair compensation and benefits Most individuals are great to work with

Cons

SCJ has handled the COVID pandemic extremely poorly in regards to forcing all employees to return to the office. SCJ is forcing office workers back starting in November with 100% of the workforce back in January. This plan is during the midst of Wisconsin breaking records with cases, positivity rate, hospitalizations and deaths. As we begin to return to the office, myself and several individuals will have to sacrifice seeing high risk and elder family members as we will not be able to self quarantine before visits anymore. We should not have to submit a HR exception request every single time we need to self quarantine before visiting with family (these have also not been approved). It seems wrong for a "Family Company" to get in the way of its employees being able to see their own family just to have us return to the office for work that can be done even more productively at home.

We appreciate your feedback as we continue with our phased return to office process. As we believe SCJ is stronger as a team when we can work together in-person, for the benefit of our consumers and the communities we serve, we continue to work toward bringing SCJ people back to the office. Our priority is the health and safety of our people, great care and investment have gone into preparing our offices around the world for a safe and successful return. We understand there may be circumstances that might make it challenging for SCJ people to return, whether it’s childcare or if a person is more at risk from a health perspective. Through a confidential, HR-led process, SCJ people may submit requests for such exceptions and pursue alternate considerations. Due to the ever-changing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently continuing in the voluntary return to office phase. Going further, we will monitor the situation and provide advance notice before entering the next phase of our return to office process.

Look elsewhere

Pros

Good location near all transit if commuting

Cons

Look elsewhere if you are in supply chain. I believe most of the reviews are written by HR. The pay is low compared to industry standard and there isn’t really a yearly raise . The technology is old so if you come from another company you’ll be perplexed because there are 1,000 reports that do nothing and the supply chain process is very manual. Most of the the supply chain staff came from Kraft or Genpact ( read their reviews and that should tell you alot) .The managers are more worried about the numbers than the actual process and reasoning of why they look terrible . Their process is so flawed and it is hard to get anything done let alone effectively manage the things you are responsible for. If you are in supply chain forget about having a work life balance, you are responsible for planning, project, reporting, and any other random stuff you asked for. Most of the planner work really late and are usually in by 8 at the latest. Most of the supply chain staff (non management ) has been here for 2 years or less and turn over is high.

Good and not so good

Pros

Benefits, matching 401K (up to a certain percentage), profit sharing. Some great people to work with. Environmentally conscious, good salary.

Cons

Atrocious computer and communication technology. I was shocked when I came here. They have outsourced most of their IT help desk service and it's been a nightmare. We do so much of our own trouble shooting it's ridiculous. It can take hours longer to complete computer work/projects due to the unreliable computer technology that we are expected to work with. Skype phones, dear god...... they cut out, poor connectivity, try to find a real phone,in an emergency; you have to log into a computer in most areas. Who needs to communicate, right? Work-life balance is exceptionally poor in certain departments. Going "Global" has people at meetings online at 5 or 6 am and then again at 10 or 11 pm. My department isn't so bad, but I see what others go through and it's creating a lot of stress and dissatisfaction. I know many employees who have left for that reason. OH...and the performance review ranking system. Yea, you're director is given 1-5 numbers and someone's got to get one of those numbers. So you could all be working well, maybe 3's (average but acceptable) but SOMEONE's got to get a 2 or a 1. So unless you have a read dud in your area, someone will be forced to be a 1 or 2 to satisfy the number god and will receive a development plan and be on notice. WOW, how medieval.
