Disappointing Experience

Business Outlook

Pros

Strong corporate culture; investment in communities and for the under served; opportunities for mission work; dynamic corporate leadership

Cons

Local management does not reflect or practice corporate ideals and values; promotion based on relationships, rather than abilities; toxic work environment; retaliation if you challenge the norm. When I started, I was told not to trust anyone and keep all emails in order to cover my a**. Sadly, the person was right. Promotion based on being a part of the "in" crowd.

DO NOT WORK HERE

Pros

Great Teammates and a lot of things to learn.

Cons

If your not into kissing up to management then you won't move around in the company. A lot of promises are made for new things and they fall through the cracks. There are not many people in the office with more than 2 years experience because of the management/leadership. Policies and procedures are made by people who never have actually performed the job function the changes will effect. Positions are offered and they are suddenly removed. Supervisors are in charge of departments they never even worked before so they can't assist in answering questions. The morale is very low and every day at least 2-3 people quit the job. They can't hire and retain employees to continue the work. There is no consistency across the board on some company policies. If a manager does not like you they discuss it with everyone else in the office instead of addressing the person. They say they are wanting people that will fit the culture and they will only happen if they want 4 year olds to work for them. They have babysitting hours twice a day. Management comes up with rules and polices and are the first ones to break the rules. Not a professional place at all.

Values Touted are Completely Ignored in Practice

Pros

Rank and file employees are friendly and polite

Cons

Favoritism and cronyism abounds. Middle management is too worried about the possibility of losing their job for any whimsical reason. They are powerless to manage and reward their teams properly. Top management primarily respects their own hires---those with high prestige degrees and top GPAs. Actual work performance is rarely scrutinized.
