      Pros

      -cutting edge research and development -get to develop and work with some of the most unique equipment in the world -challenging, rewarding work -good pay for academic work

      Cons

      -while the pay is good for academic standards, the cost of living in the area is out of control. This is something that is completely out of SLAC's control. It is very difficult to envision buying property in the area. -may sometimes be difficult to establish work/life balance -lack of diversity, but not moreso than most science research labs.
