Pros

Nothing basically Direct staff do all the work while the company gets $150-$180 per hour for each insurance. If you want your time to be waste, work here please

Cons

The main owner travels the world while the clients gets some terrible programs/services and you cant do nothing about it because supervisors are too lazy to add them in the report. Lets quote a parent who said the supervisors adds and manipulates the report in order to trick the insurance of the “ real progress” the kid has made. THIS REAL SHOWS YOU HOW DISGUSTING IS WORKING FOR THE COMPANY IS.

Dear Employee, SLEA is open to reviews that contain quality feedback to which we can find real solutions and make SLEA a better place to work. Unfortunately, your review offers little to no constructive information. The hourly rate you claim SLEA is paid for services is incorrect, client satisfaction has never been better, and our supervisory team continues to elevate their education and skill set to provide guidance to staff. We find that attacks on the executive director are without any merit and quite frankly, immature. She started this company 30+ years ago… given the time and work over the many years establishing the practice, she absolutely deserves to take time off and be with her family. She provides employment for 250 employees and still shows up almost daily to further enhances our multidisciplinary services. It’s a shame that a current employee would have such feelings. Having said that, we hope you have begun your job search and wish you well. Thank you!

Pros

Good mission, employees are from diverse ethnicities/backgrounds.

Cons

First, I've never worked so hard and was so unappreciated. The Executive Director (Owner) is/was frugal, extremely unethical and very, very greedy. This is probably why there is a big turnover of employees. It's all about money, money, money to them. The company lacks structure and organization. You're pretty much on your own with lack of support. There were no set rules; you had to figure things out on your own. There was a lack of Supervision, which was also another red flag. Additionally, lack of communication was also a problem between administration and staff. It can take days for someone to respond via phone or email. There was also a great deal of micromanaging coming from the Program Director and Owner/Executive Director. The clinics are pretty much run by very nice young adults who've just completed their AA Degrees, as Speech Assistants (Not licensed Speech-Language Pathologists) in the field. It was quite alarming when the COO and HR Director left the company the same week. I would have to suspect that there was illegal activities going on (e.g., fraudulent billing? unethical practice?). The Executive Director is/was never present (always traveling and galavanting to Oakland, Israel, New York etc.) except at mandatory meetings which in turn, doesn't help in running an organization. There was so much red tape like you wouldn't believe.

Pros

Great company mission, nice people, and diverse culture. Background checks are impeccably processed. Team members are friendly and are ready to lend a helping hand even if they aren't qualified or properly trained by management to handle completion of I-9 forms, processing payroll, affordable care act compliance, or exit interviews.

Cons

Speech, Language and Educational Associates lacks organization, structure, integrity, and compliance. It's sad to see an organization with a wonderful mission drown in dysfunction. As a Human Resources Professional, I was prohibited from establishing job descriptions for employees and forbidden from auditing and correcting employee vacation accruals because I was told SLEA has no way to verify accurate vacation hour accruals actually taken by their employees due to SLEA's disorganization and lack of record retention best practices. The Executive Director/President is cheap, greedy, and refuses to automate creating tedious manual inefficiencies resulting in erroneous processing of data which sadly include employee paychecks.
