SPX Could be a Great Place to Work!

Pros

Company growth both organic and through acquisition.

Cons

Management! What's wrong with this company is management and management drives company culture. Mid-level management is condescending, disrespectful and just plan nasty. It's the norm for this company because long-term managers have been allowed to get away with it for so long. There needs to be focus on rooting out these employees and making a change at this level. Diversity and Inclusion - they have the nice charts laid out goal and talking points, management training etc. but when will D&I efforts really began to show itself in hiring practices, promotions and change of company culture. Studies have shown where companies have implemented D&I during the pandemic and it's just been "lip service" to say there is D&I in the company. Right now that's exactly what D&I is at SPX, "lip service." Until the average employee is impacted by D&I initiatives, all efforts are futile. Promotion Opportunities - Very slim opportunities for promotion. My co-worker has been with the company prior to spin and only recently had an opportunity for promotion. Which from my understanding was only considered because of continued request while watching others with less experience, less time with the company be promoted again and again. Very discouraging all the while dealing with a long-term micromanager of the company! If it was this difficult for my coworker to be promoted, I know there is no opportunity for growth and promotion for me and other colleagues. Bonuses - Practically non-existent unless your in management. Management is very well rewarded whether the company is doing well or not. Spread those bonuses to subordinates and see turnover and employee satisfaction improve. Equally share the success of the company. HR will see this review and discredit it as an outlier from a disgruntled employee instead accepting it as an honest employee experience. SPX could be such a great place to work, just listen to your employees.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about SPX. As noted in your feedback on the Pros of working at SPX, through the hard work and dedication of our employees, we are in a place where we are growing, including through mergers and acquisitions. This growth gives us opportunities to provide additional learning and development opportunities for employees. Thank you for recognizing this. Regarding the Cons you noted, we appreciate your feedback. Our goal is that our core organizational values guide each of us in all our actions and decisions, and we are disappointed when we hear that an employee had an experience where those values were not demonstrated. We also want to ensure that our emphasis on Diversity and Inclusion is not just words, but that these foundations are embedded in all that we do. In 2021, we focused on various training initiatives related to Diversity and Inclusion and continue to work on other trainings, initiatives, and projects to ensure that these are a daily part of SPX. Thank you again for your feedback.

Pros

Great people, and a company focused on growth. Lots of very long term employees that are able to mentor/train new employees. Company has made some strong business decisions with acquisitions and is in a very strong financial position. With the growth, along with a number of retirements, there is a lot of opportunity for employees to advance in their careers. 401k matching is strong.

Cons

Insurance options are about average, could be better. Things take some time for approvals with many layers of red tape, processes in HR could be streamlined more.

We appreciate your review. Over the past several years, we have brought a number of new companies into the SPX family through acquisitions. Our focus on both inorganic and organic growth has not only helped us succeed in the marketplace, but it has also provided a variety of development opportunities for our employees. Through initiatives like our RiSE Talent Program, we are committed to helping employees in their own career growth journey. We also thank you for your constructive feedback as we work to continuously improve and streamline processes in the organization. We regularly review our benefits packages to ensure they are attractive in the marketplace, and we appreciate your feedback in this area.
