Pros

Good people to work with. Fun investigating issues and working with numbers.

Cons

It seems like you are just a number in this large company. All they care about is money. Takes a long time to get things approved. No room to grow in this department.

Has Potential However Declining

Pros

There are some really smart people and large customer base. The company is a laggard compared to their competition and has finally realized massive changes are necessary to survive and maintain the customer base and remain minimally competitive. Leadership has finally recognized the business is "broken".

Cons

While there is finally recognition that major changes in strategy, execution, and talent are needed, the plan for correcting course is flawed. Many decisions are based in meeting revenue objectives by managing the top line rather than bottom. Poor decisions have been implemented to reduce sales rep salaries regardless of performance and claim it is to drive high performance. Strict vacation policies have been implemented, and the 401k administrator was changed to a less regarded provider with fewer options and more fees. Health benefits cost to employees have increased. There is an atmosphere of distrust for the leadership because there is no understanding that transparency is always better than denying or avoidance of answering questions. Compensation is not competitive for high quality candidates. Products are old and lack innovation. Read reviews of products. Don't just read comments on this site. The business is going "flat", thus there is limited career progression beyond front line managers.

Overpromise, underdeliver

Pros

Work with some amazing people. Very talented and educated ground level staff. Nice new office. Name looks good on paper in some industries.

Cons

Complete lack of transparency, plan, and accountability. When interviewed, you will be promised the world and told how wonderful sage culture is. That unfortunately is not true. Wages are lower than most competitors. There is not a plan of action for how front line sales reps will deliver metrics desired (they would like you to call from a lead list, but have few/no leads). Upper management will say whatever is necessary to pacify the reps and stop a storm from getting any worst. 2. Training is abysmal, you may never actually interact with the product you sell, let alone be able to explain the intricacies to a customer. The training staff is phenomenal, but they do not have a say in what material is taught. You also do not get a copy of the software yourself, even if it is for product knowledge purposes. 3. Promises will be broken. You may be agree to a bonus only to have it taken away from you 2 weeks before Christmas. You may be told that you may operate as if it were your own business, only to be micromanaged. You're "total compensation" may say 70+ on an offer letter, but you may only be given the resources to make 50k. 9 out of 10 times it will still be your fault. despite upper management acknowledging that you have not been trained or have proper tools for your position.
