Pros

I went to SCE to restart my career after being laid off from another employer. One thing I can say; SCE takes care of their people. They expect you to work , not just come to work. If you do, they hook you up. I got 3 raises in my first 6 months. I used to be a brick layer now I am running a machine. I like that they brought me on and taught me the basics. Heard some guys complain about the heat.. go lay bricks for 10 hours then get back to me. Fact is, SCE is pretty comfortable as factories go. Overall pretty happy here. Clean environment, frequent pay increases and paid training. Good place to work if you actually work.

Cons

Not really a con but it is physical work. I knew that going in.

Pros

Good insurance and snack area. That's about it.

Cons

You are REQUIRED to buy a list of tools from the company, even if you already own all of the tools. No big deal if you're getting a good deal on quality tools right? Not so much. You get the cheapest Husky brand tools from Home Depot that they mark up about 10% to make money off of you. And when they break or the other shift steals them, you're forced to replace them with your own money. They do random drug tests so keep that in mind. Short breaks for long shifts. 10 hour days. Have to request for time off months ahead of time to actually get it. HR and the supervisor constantly press you for new ideas for the shop but your ideas are either stolen or never told to management so you get a poor review. Everyone in management just stands around and watches you work. Everyone in upper management is family so they do whatever they want and it gives you no room to move up. It gets VERY hot in the summer. Well over 100 degrees in the shop most days. And no one in management cares because the office is air conditioned. The whole shop has a prison feel to it. No one seems happy. Overall just a terrible place to work. Don't waste your time.

Pros

I have been with the company for 9 years. Over the last 9 years the company continues improve and grow. There is a definite focus on creating a good culture and keeping a work/life balance. The company has committed to NOT running production on the weekends. The schedule is consistently Monday-Friday. A lot of time has been invested into training employees to grow with the company. There have been a number of internal job postings giving everyone an opportunity to advance their career. The company pays for the health insurance. Feedback about what I am doing and what I would like to do is welcomed and followed up on. The shop is clean and organized. The work is physical, but if you want to start out in an entry level position and work your way up there are a lot of opportunities to grow with SCE.

Cons

The work is physical and the shop gets hot in the summer. There are improvements that have been made to limit the physical demands and as long as you know what the expectations are it is a good environment to be in.
