Pros

-decent staff meals -clean locker rooms (At least the womens room) -security 24/7 made it a safe place to work -incentive program wasn't bad, but you need a ton of their "bucks" for it to even be worth anything offered.

Cons

-Heavily male dominated kitchen, and not in a good or inclusive way. Not a single chef or sous chef is female. Very "good old boys" club -conflict resolution, when you do have a conflict, is half-*sssed by HR -training as a new kitchen employee is minimal, there are no standard recipe books, you don't get chef jacket or pants, you have to buy all your stuff on your own. -Pastry kitchen is small, cramped, hot and unorganized -the head chef for Harriman's is an *ssh*le-he is biased toward his team and thinks everyone else is useless/stupid -the pay is not competitive -supervisors and management are not very understanding if you are sick/get covid. the just need bodies in the back.

Pros

Creative freedom Beautiful property

Cons

The only reason you have creative freedom is because the corporate team has no idea what they are doing. They don't even have brand standards or a logo style template. Job responsibility constantly change. No clear vision of what the brand is or should be. Promote under-qualified people to position because it is easy. No matter how many times you are introduced to or speak to the Founder, she never remembers names or job titles Benefits are the worst I have ever seen; no matched 401k, time off doesn't rollover and never can take time off Lack of culture HR department is basically "mean girls"

Pros

Ideally, we are encouraged to treat our co-workers with respect. Not everyone can or will get along of course but the fact that we are encouraged to treat each other with kindness goes a very long way. People are generally very positive here & we try not to focus on finding faults with each other.

Cons

This resort is trying to achieve 5 star status. My understanding of that is there are only 67 5 star resorts in THE WORLD. To do this you you really need to find a way to retain talent. Managers here can sometimes feel threatened, & write you up for petty things. Even after seeing that you do a stellar job. Also different departments compete with each other & do not communicate in order to come out on top. Or so it seems. This is so silly! If the concierge doesn't communicate with the restaurant or vice versa it makes us look idiotic & unprofessional to the guests. There are no brownie points or gold stars given out to people who don't work together in this type of environment with these high maintenance people that we serve.
