Outdated Sales Strategies/Lack of Using Own Digital Marketing

Mass population of people are caring and loving people who want to make a difference in their community and world.

Cons

The amount of stress placed on Media Strategy is unacceptable. Sales leadership is more sales accountants tracking the various activity level (cold calls, proposals, closes) in an ineffective CRM (Radio based). Managers are not providing effective strategies to network with potential clients. The powerful digital strategies are that Media Strategist are not Salem Media property. Getting proper support and accountability for result presents a challenge. I valued my 2 years at Salem Media and hope they turn things around.

Good Corporate Leadership, Poor Local management.

Pros

Local manager clueless about digital and invests zero in the market. Management pushes sales people to sell to ANYONE regardless of the client's advertising strategy. Only cares about KPI's and not client business or employees. CYA is the mantra, not providing relevant solutions to clients.

Cons

Corporate is clueless about what really happens in the local market from a management perspective. Bottom line revenue is the only care, regardless of attrition, morale or just smart selling. I suggest that a senior leader hop on a plane and visit Detroit unannounced. It's a mess. By the way, I've been in this business 20+ years. It's still a mess.
