As a new employee as part of Salem's Corporate Division, I could not be more honored to be a part of this supportive, experienced and collaborative team. When I announced I was starting at Salem, the comments came flooding in about what an amazing company this was and they surely were not wrong! Having worked my way amongst multiple media companies in my 26 years in this industry, I can already tell Salem is truly the cream of the crop and it is an honor to now call it home.

Good entry radio job, if you can work with right wing media.

Pros

Great introduction into radio operations with checking off media logs and live talk show audio. There are many opportunities to grow with producing podcast versions of live radio media and potentially going into the field at events to promote the radio station. Higher ups will gladly help you if you ask for it. There is no shaming anyone at Salem Media Group for wanting to learn.

Cons

While the job itself is great, you are working with a media company that heavily produces secular and Christian far right wing media. If you can stomach it during your time of employment or want to work with said media, excellent. If you can't, find another place to work. Otherwise, this is a great spot to learn more about talk radio operations. Part time employees do not receive any benefits.

None come to mind because there aren't any.

Cons

Salem professes to care about morals and values, but they only care about their bottom line. They prize quantity over quality, and it's not even close. Doesn't matter how much hard work you've put in and for how long; if you can't keep up with the ridiculous click quota, you're worthless to them. I rarely heard from management, and when I did, it was only to complain and try to make me feel bad about myself (including, on one occasion, during a very rare week of time off). They have no room for people with convictions — unless those people have lucrative media contracts — so if you still care about *actual* conservatism as opposed to indulging political hypocrisy on the Right, do yourself a favor and find a place that still puts principles before money and won't throw employees to the idiot wolves in the comments section.
