Pros

Hybrid in office requirement Colorful Hair welcome Nice building with Park nearby to escape Updated Cafe amenities

Cons

Old school corporate politics with protected favorites, Managers too preoccupied with important meetings to support team initiatives, consistent gaslighting and HR rhetoric of transparency while workers tremble under lack of resources, and seething internal competition amongst peers instead of cooperation.

Pros

Cons

Sally Beauty has turned into a total comedy of errors. Let’s talk about a company who had DEDICATED, honest and fair employees and completely abandoned them and tossed them away like trash for a “realignment” change. Leaving dedicated employees whom have been with the company for years upon years with no future in the company. Who replaced them? A slew of “ YES” men and women. “ Leaders “ whom don’t ask questions, don’t speak up about being told to treat employees unfairly, “leaders” who would do the dirty work for upper management who doesn’t want to get their hands dirty. I cannot count the number of times I was asked to work for free. Take conference calls at home while not being on the clock? Sure! Because “ that’s what managers do to ensure success.” They are currently rolling out a new program in which they claim to embrace all kinds of diversity. I have never worked for a company who is more sexist and transphobic in my life. Let’s talk about the serious lack of communication! Every single day of going into work I knew there would be numerous changes I was expected to comply with. Half of which would not actually be communicated to me...but I was magically supposed to just know. Half of the things they expect are not actually professionally communicated. When you are out of the loop on something they try to tell you to “ use your tools”. Tools in which are TOTALLY broken and not working. When you make a “ mistake “ and don’t know about one of the new ways of doing something you are made to feel like YOU are the problem. Let’s talk about a district manager whom would not allow her store manager to leave their store when there was a carbon monoxide leak, the manager passed out and hit their head. The SAME district manager continuously harasses her employees and gives no positive motivation at all, often times telling them they are “embarrassing” her. She STILL has a job. After getting other district managers involved they admitted the reason was “ probably because Human Resources has certain connections with certain district managers. “ How many people have willingly left because of this treatment? I know myself and NUMEROUS others. You could not pay me enough money to work for this company again. This is really only 1/20th of the issues I have. You know what I did before I left? I reached out, I asked questions, I tried to get my love for the company back before I quit. Nobody has answers, half the people in leadership don’t agree with the company’s direction and are so negative all the time. NOBODY could give me a reason to stay. The amount of stress that comes with this job for the pay is completely humiliating. I can’t believe I stood by a company for so long that just turned into a complete waste.

Toxic Work Environment

Pros

The only pro is the store discount and you get an hour lunch. (trust me when I say you're gonna need it if you work here.)

Cons

+ Mean girl mentality- I had issues where I was being so closely monitored to the point that I would need to tell them what I was doing at all times. + All departments LOVE LOVE LOVE to micro manage and place blame on the black sheep employee of the department when something goes wrong. + Not a whole lot of training happens literally you get thrown into your position without knowing what to do. + If you ever experience harassment and report it the harassers are automatically rewarded (thanks education and show director for “protecting” your co-workers who were open and honest with you to only do nothing in return) + Directors & VP’s have NO idea what us normal people do and it’s frustrating how we have to constantly repeat what our duties are. Also have NO idea how systems work. + Company is constantly doing layoffs and recently laid off a lot of people after FURLOUGHING them for 3 months and promising to bring them back. So far they have had 3 big lay offs within the corporation. + With the layoffs comes more and more work for one person - everyone in the corporate office is extremely overworked but expected to do it all with a smile on their face. + With the strenuous workload you receive DONT even bother to ask for a raise because if you do you literally get punished. + If you do get a raise - it’s literally cents. Such a joke! + Also during my employment (4 years) in the winter the heater smells like sewage and I’m pretty sure that’s not healthy to breath in and the building is infested with cockroaches. As you can tell this place is extremely toxic - I have had extreme amounts of anxiety and as someone who worked 4 years with the company I can say that this job is not worth it. They are “evolving” as they put it but can only evolve by laying people off and overworking UNDERPAID employees. The CEO has no idea what he’s talking about most of the time and is very uninvolved like most higher-ups. If you’re even considering working here please avoid it like you would the plague or better yet avoid it like it were the coronavirus!
