Pros

They have started getting out of the past and now have flex days and causal dress. My manager seemed to really care about her employees work load and professional growth. I was encouraged to try out new ideas.

Cons

Over the past few years they have had lay offs. They just had a massive layoff in April. The employees that are left are over worked and wondering if they will be in the next round of layoffs.

Pros

None really anymore other than they still have an on-site cafeteria which makes it convenient.

Cons

I work in the corporate office. It used to be a great company to work for. The CEO talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. None of the ideas implemented to better the company have worked which not every new change will but his latest and greatest solution last year was a "restructuring" program which meant a lot of really talented and the most dedicated employees were let go. The management team thinking along with the CEO is to bring in new people with new ideas but little to no experience in the beauty industry and to remove a majority of the tenured people who made the company once great. Now, with the new ideas not working, most of the people that knew how to make the business work are gone and it's gone from a mess to just short of a disaster. With this senior management team in place, it's not how but when things will go from bad to worse.

Pros

Free products and making friends along the way.

Cons

Bad pay. Nasty, rude and just plain mean customers. District managers and territory managers treat employees like cattle...get 'em it, get 'em out. Unrealistic goals. They give you "points" for selling items of the month and other certain products but then tax you on the items you redeem your points for and if you get a Sally gift card you get taxed TWICE. The hours are long and the pay is at the very minimum. They complain if your shrink is high yet they won't prosicute shoplifters. They set people up for failure. They have return policies in place but will take every and anything back. Customer service never backs up their employees. You get in trouble for everything. Nothing you do is good enough. I have been here a long time in various positions and I get threats on a weekly basis that I am replaceable. Sally is open every holiday accept Thankgiving,Xmas and Easter. I am sorry but is a nail file or weave enough of a reason to be open on holidays instead of letting us be with family? The home office is closed holidays and the DM's and TM's certainly are no where to be found. They are also extremly wasteful. If someone returns a product or flat iron that been used once it is damaged out and thrown away. Thousands of dollars of electricals and products a month, instead of re-selling at a discount or donated.
