Pros

Salary, benefits, food. Cafeteria is not bad. People generally seem nice. They know what they need and will do anything to get it.

Cons

Long hours, highly deceptive job description, verbally abusive and colluding facilities department. There is no direction and Korean style mentally is toxic for American employees. Avoid if possible. Made the mistake of joining (moving from a far location) now it has effectively destroyed my career. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. You guys are very lucky I didn't file a law suit. These word can only scratch the surface......Verbally abusive. Physically abusive. Profanity. Racist. Sexist. Senseless. Backward thinking. Idea stealers. Back stabbing. Typical 1960s Korean politics mentally. You cannot run this place like a 1960 Korean military style. We are not at war. And don't just use people up and throw them away. Eventually these things catch up to the organization. Bad leaderships collapses in on itself. Also. Word of advice. True innovation happens on the next curve, not just copying and putting things together. That's not innovation. You will eventually lose talent. It's doesn't matter if you get ahead by building memory chips with more power. The company will eventually collapse from within. The secret behind most success if work ethnic. By far you guys work the hardest in the valley. But re work is not effective. And neither is just blasting people for more work when they are overworked to begin with. Never work for another company like this again. God you people are horrible. You know who I am so don't even bother replying to this.

These are very serious and troubling allegations. While this review is not representative of our culture, I take this allegation very seriously. Making sure we have a safe and supportive workplace is our top priority, and it would be helpful if you will confidentially contact me or our legal team.

Pros

Good salary and bonus (this is because of the turnover rate is high.)

Cons

Fact: HQ people don't speak English, so every America team leader need to be Korean. But it is very hard to find so many capable Computer Majored Korean in America. Even they can find it, not many capable A-grade Korean want to work for Samsung (Go ask any of your korean co-worker). So you end up with a Supervisor that only have Junior level skill, and they are the one that have to make decision. All the decision made are not logical but political. All these team leaders want to impress their HQ boss by coming up with new idea. But since they only have Junior-level mind set, their idea are pure stupid. At first, you will try to tell your Junior-level supervisor that his idea wont work. But he wont understand why and will ask you doing it anyway. As time go by, you stop caring and just say yes to every stupid idea that he come up with. At the end of the day, all the good A-grade engineers can't stand it and will quit. And you end up working with a team of so so engineer there. if you think you are good, dont waste your time here. dont expected you can learn anything there

Therefore, I would love to understand more about the manager experience and retention rate you referenced to. I encourage you to reach out to me at erica.ho@partner.samsung.com so I can work with you to make sure your concerns are addressed.

Pros

New campus that was built within last year, lots of talented people from which to learn and collaborate, and good benefits.

Cons

Old-school approaches, backwards formalities, and a political mine field. Even though there are dozens of independent groups that feel like tiny start-ups falling under the Samsung umbrella, you can't switch from the one to another if you wanted. The only way would be to quit the company altogether, go through the interview process, and you may get it. Getting promoted is also a challenge, even if you're breaking your back. Most accomplishments filter through Korea and often treated via political lens. I've seen many amazing prototypes, which get killed because one VP doesn't like another VP. This place is good for learning new technologies, but not for someone who wants to grow with a company. It's primarily good for Korean nationals, who don't have to work as hard, but get all the recognition.

Thank you for the review. I am glad that you had the chance to collaborate with our talented team! I am sorry to hear about the politics though, which is in part due to our need to work closely with our other global R&D operations, including HQ in South Korea. At SRA we are committed to driving new innovation, which is largely dependent on our people. Therefore, I would really love to the chance to talk with you directly about ways we can make sure that our team members feel appreciated. Please contact me at erica.ho@partner.samsung.com.
