Pros

Stock volatility may bring some financial rewards. Near zero accountability allows several people to under deliver, so several people are satisfied with their position. This is a pro, because many employees have landed here looking for slower, stabler lives. SanDisk does have cutting edge technology and is a market leader. If you are fortunate enough to work with the few people that really contribute, it can be rewarding.

Cons

Near zero accountability, that allows you to under deliver, also means that the people that should be passed over for promotions are not, thereby diluting the rewards for your actions. Very poor product focus Poor senior management control of middle management. Persistent speculation/rumors of a bias towards certain kinds of employees has destroyed morale.

Pros

Oddly, lack of headcount required/offered the chance to learn more skills across more functions Most of the people working there for more than the past 3 years are smart, helpful, dedicated Great product ideas always in process Good benefits package, flexible work schedule, casual environment Generous IT support and equipment Generous educational benefit - up to $6K/year Good location for commute - near restaurants and stores

Cons

Constantly changing direction and priorities costing millions of dollars Frequent, unannounced, illogical reorganizations Their way of dealing with sagging profits seems to be reorgs and layoffs rather than rethinking product release, marketing, sales strategies Silo issues among departments and functions Ageism - they're quietly but surely getting rid of anyone over 50 Very odd relationship with former M Systems acquisition - as a result, almost all director and above positions have been replaced with Israelis Has tendency to not pay vendors on time often leading to project interruptions or penalties

Pros

The NAND department at least gave some free dinner during tapeout time.

Cons

Other engineering department could not care less if you're working late, there is no incentive and management is very pushy to get jobs done ASAP. Mediocre salary and no clear direction; We've had so many reorgs (2-3) and layoffs in the past few years. Rule of thumb is to expect layoffs as least once a year, followed by a new round of hirings. I guess they want to trim excess fat but do it often and the employees lose its morale.
