      SanDisk...not the worst but definitely not the best of employers

      Pros

      SanDisk used to be a place that had great prospsects and tremendous growth. The best reasons to work there are that the benefits are reasonable, and the employees in general are co-ordial.

      Cons

      The pay is below the industry average and the industry is extremely brutal when it comes to layoffs during downturns. There was a lot of shifting in priorities. The commandments come straight from the top and there doesn't seem to be a lot of empowerment of the middle management. Some employees were treated pretty badly. There are a lot of politics involved within the corporate side of things. The stock price now is abyssmal.

      Pros

      Pretty typical semiconductor company. Great place to work if you're into the industry. Main focuses are on NAND Flash, MP3 players. SanDisk sponsors events that make it a more family-friendly place to work. Salary and compensation seem to be highly competitive with that of other semiconductor companies in the area, if not better.

      Cons

      NAND Flash is currently a money-losing industry. SanDisk has been doing a good job avoiding cost-cutting and layoffs, but there's a sense that there won't be much growth in the near future. Also possible - mergers with Samsung, Toshiba, leading to restructuring. Currently doesn't seem to be hiring.

      Leader in Flash technology. A lot of young colleagues.

      Cons

      The sector in which the company operates is now commoditized and hence pricing is under tremendous pressure. This creates tremendous budget squeeze in all areas of company
