Pros

The only good thing was the bank was closed on Sundays.

Cons

Absolutely terrible experience. I was the only teller most days. I don't know if my manager was just an idiot who didn't do the schedule properly, or the bank was too cheap to hire any more people. I had to deal with customers yelling in my face all day about the terrible lines. I didn't get a lunch break because no one was there to cover me. I couldn't even use the bathroom without my manager yelling that we had a line. My manager was the most aggressive in your face type of person I ever met. She was not only rude to employees but rude to customers. She would offer loans to people who insisted they didn't need them just to make her goals. She would literally beg. At one point she yelled at me to chase the UPS man to see if he would open an account.

Pros

I enjoy the people I work with on an every day basis. The branch staff in the district make it feel very much like belonging to a club.

Cons

Poorly organized and unhelpful departments, every inter-departmental communication feels like a battle. Management has no clear direction. Policies are outdate and nearly impossible to decode yet everyone will expect you to be an expert and have memorized the policy database. Often a call to the support desk ends up with unknowledgeable employees reading obtusely written policy PDFs or just referring the policy number before just hanging up. No advancement, positions filled internally by pre-decision. Slow and unstable banking software that has employees sometimes unable to complete basic transactions

Pros

Competitive products and some talented colleagues. Good footprint. Overall everyone is pretty nice, they just feel the pressure rolling down hill.

Cons

The career patting is all for show. The attrition is off of the charts for a reason. People can't see a future and the incentive plan is a profit and loss system directly from Citizens Bank along with the staff who created it. That relates back to career. All senior positions are from friends of friends from other banks (Citizens, JP Morgan, Bank of America) the branches and business bankers are the face of the bank, literally the most talented people are sprinting to the doors! Of course they will fill the positions with new people that will have to go through training and build a pipeline so there will be a lot of less production in the year over year revenue.
