Pros

I can only speak for myself, but I really like my coworkers. Except for the brown nosing, under the bus throwing, pointing out the flaws of others employees, I don't care for them very much at all.

Cons

There are two types of employees at SAT—management’s favorites, and everybody else. If you are a skilled brown noser, then you have a bright future ahead of you with this company. For real—before I started working here, I’ve never seen certain employees waste so much time kissing the butt of their supervisor than doing their own job—but now I know it’s possible! Look, I really wanted to enjoy working here…really I did. And it started off quite positively, but it went downhill fast. If you are unlucky enough to land a job here, be prepared to receive bare minimum training. For your own sanity you better be a quick learner, because unless you’ve worked in something similar, this line of work is all unto itself. Once you are thrown into your job, make sure you are a top notch performer or you’ll start to hear “rumblings”. Like I mentioned, it seems kissing the butt of your supervisor is not only appreciated, it’s encouraged—so try a little of that too. Most importantly, don’t get too friendly with your co-workers—this will be held against you whenever they need to hold something against you. Actually, doing just about anything can be held against you so don’t even breathe while you’re working here—exhaling too loudly could put you on the chopping block. Speaking of chopping blocks, from what I understand there are weekly meetings discussing who is up for elimination and who ultimately gets to spend another week on the island (I wish I was kidding). Lies, rumors and innuendo will make up more of your employee file than positive reviews or kudos. Since CT is a fire-at-will state, the more nonsense they CLAIM your file is padded with, the more ammunition they will have when they let you go—and you will go (just look at their list of job openings—do you think those are newly created jobs? HA. Those positions are open because of terminations and resignations). Never mind glassdoor.com, this company’s laughable reviews belong on revolvingdoor.com. Unfortunately, this place is just a stepping stone not a landing pad for many talented, dedicated, hopeful employees, and that’s really the fault of upper management. It’s an old school, boy’s club mentality where everybody in this company is completely dispensable but them. They are SO blinded by their own managerial shortcomings that they cannot see the forest for the trees. They can practice continuous improvement until the cows come home, it will mean NOTHING until there is a changing of the guard in upper management.

Overall a decent place to work

Pros

Company management is actively pursuing growth, efficiency and improvement. This can be annoying for field employees as it results in sometimes counter-intuitive directives coming from Corporate. However, the company is doing well in a very competitive market, no small feat.

Cons

Sometimes policies and inefficiencies can be frustrating.

Not a place to build your future

Pros

there used to be a lot of pro's however they have diminished over the years. Decent wages for field staff, nice equipment. Very good sales training and good car policy for reps. If you know nothing about trees then this is the place for you.

Cons

Owner is greedy and only cares about lining his pockets. Asks everyone to work harder for less pay while the company (owner) makes more. The quality of product provided to consumer no longer seems to be a priority. As long as it can be provided cheaply and they can charge 20% more than the competition. You will be treated like a robot and although management will lead you to believe your input matters, it does not. You will be told what to do in every aspect of your job. NO individuality is encouraged. There is an incredible amount of distrust for management. It is common practice to pit different levels of employees against each other as the company's way of keeping a warped sense of checks and balances. I would not recommend the company to anyone seeking a sales or management position. DO NOT sign a 'non compete' if you do take a job here. In a short amount of time you will realize the mistake you made.
