Pros

Helping NFP partners, recycling, value to the local community as an employer of "at-risk' and marginalized citizens, value pricing.

Cons

Poor pay, questionable business ethics, abusive employment practices. Few pay improvement opportunities for hourly TMs, restrictive attendance and sick policies, arbitrary hiring and termination practices, no functional marketing plan. Some blatant discriminatory practices tolerated or encouraged by upper management.

Pros

good discounts, good benefits(if your full time)

Cons

the working conditions are appalling, osd attendants are given unrealistic goals to meet.at my store the operations manager wanted osd attendants to put out 300 items every day, impossible,if furniture canot do it neither can they.mangement was overbearing, they would tell you to do certain things but they never lifted a finger to help you do it.mangement was very disrepectfull, they have people who dont have much edcuation so they made savers a cearrer and treat their employees with contmpt and disdain, they lack mangement sills of any kind and thhave very poor commuctiaon skills with there fellow employees.good for seasonal work, not much else.

Pros

-Salary Managers well-payed -Decent schedule/workload -Good discounts -New stores look great. -Great selection. Partnerships with non-profits do help the community. *A lot of people thing that the store just gets free donations, and overcharges the public for them. Savers weighs all of its donations, and pays a price per pound to their local non-profit partners. So sure, while they're getting a lot of donations for pennies on the dollar, they are still paying a local charity for every donation. Furthermore, they have high overhead, rent, etc, so I don't support the common misconception that Savers is "getting free stuff and ripping people off."

Cons

Hourly employees not well-paid, especially for the strict quotas employees have to meet. Employees elsewhere might get paid the same but have a much easier job description. Employees range from good to downright dregs of society, and often the store gets trashed. Lots of turn over Upper management often has this picture of "ideal" methods that don't always work in practice. Prices are starting to get a little high. Could use modern POS equipment..get with the 21st century!
