Greed at the Core & Top

Pros

Pockets of wonderful people but leadership does not care

Cons

Where to begin- from the moment new leadership came on board, it was all about egos and greed. Work 200% but we already were! It’s never enough for leadership, It feels like you’re just a number. If you’re okay with working for a company where the leadership does not care of even believe in their values, basically just for a paycheck, then this is the place for you. But if you’re like most of us, you will realize quickly that leadership sees you as replaceable and fear is your daily companion. There are wonderful people mixed in which really makes you wonder why they stay, the only reason is $, trust me on this. Participating in meetings with the president where he says he wants to understand is just an embarrassing one-way discussion where he asks you if he got it right. No one is really going to speak up because you can tell he does not care one iota what you think. He just likes to hear himself speak. The age old “attorneys are shysters’” comes to mind. The cofounder and CEO doesn’t care about anyone and will make promises and not keep them without batting an eye.

Toxic place to work

Pros

Product has a market fit

Cons

- Technical leadership is very poor and does not seem to understand basic fundamentals of software development - Product is poorly designed architecturally to a point that there is no architecture. The different components of the product are meshed together in big ball of wax. - The code quality is worse than a college student would do. There is zero unit testing. The technical leadership does not even value testing. - The leadership only have worked with Groovy and grails. They do not understand the new technology and do not desire to change even if they say that on the face - Basic security practices are not followed. Leadership does not want to fix the security issues correctly. They have hacked solutions over other hacked solutions - Culture of the company is really bad. They do say on the face that they want to enable teams but really backstab and talk bad about the resources on leadership meetings. Leadership wants to push the design and quality lapses that they have promoted on the developers. Developers are discouraged from improving the code and code quality. - The code is a mess with 60k lines of codes in a method. The product code can be used as an example of how not to write code. The developers are blamed for any regression in such a code. - the technical leadership lacks maturity to identify the real problem in the product and courage to tackle it. They also lean on a hacked solution. - you will be spending next few years in the company fixing defects where the advice is to not address the core defect but do a quick fix. You will be judged by number of defects fixed and not quality of the fix.
