Pros

I've had some crazy/cool experiences in my previous jobs, but nothing like I've had here. It is pretty amazing when I stop to think about how far we've come, and where we are going next. We're really good at what we do, we have really passionate customers who are often on the cusp of doing something remarkable, and we're starting to show real traction with some exciting new developments. Having super smart co-workers and mentors has been truly invaluable to my professional development. Smart people, incredibly accomplished mentors and colleagues, and opportunity for rapid growth. It's a winning combination that has allowed me to grow a ton even in a short period of time. I like that I get to work on projects that have huge potential impact, and are really fun. There are just so many problems to solve and challenges to overcome. We're not only working on a great problem, but also on great solutions to that problem. I also really love the culture here — people here care a lot about the company and the team and are always working hard to make it better. All of the above, and it seems like we're onto something really big here.

Cons

Because of the high hiring bar Scale has, it can be hard to stand out. A very hard working, smart person can end up being "average" at Scale, which can sometimes be intimidating.

Pros

- The company is built on top of a group of extremely smart and hard working people. It is not uncommon that some people work more than 50 hours regularly. By leveraging these extraordinary human resources, the company will no doubt be very successfully in the short / medium term. Investors should be very proud of their bets.

Cons

- This company is a body shop. There is zero work life balance. The executives and managers do not care much of their people. They keep pushing new projects on the employees and let them burnout. The company provides not only lunch but also dinner everyday. You know why? Because people have to work super late and the catered dinner saves them time from going outside to grub food. - The company has a solo focus on velocity. Engineers rush for new customer requests all the time and do not have time to architect or code properly. Priorities change every few days (yes, it sounds crazy). The former VP of engineering left the company because he did not agree with the company's over-emphasis on speed. Most of the engineering teams could not even plan a project of one month long. Most of the features are rushed and have accumulated a ton of tech debt, which has been causing a lot of damage now. If you are an engineer, you will not have the time to follow any of the best practices. Be prepared to become a lousy engineer if you work here for too long.
