Pros

The pay and benefits are outstanding! When I read over the details of my offer, it seemed like it was too good to be true, but it really is that good! The work is challenging and rewarding. We work with a lot of different types of industries and get to see a lot of cool technology. The company has almost doubled in size since I started but it still has a small company feel where the managers and principals are very approachable.

Cons

As with any job where you are at the whim of clients, there are some times where you will have 3-4 projects happening at the same time. Managers try to schedule enough dedicated time for projects but with client delays, you will have some weeks where you are a little overwhelmed and have to work longer hours than usual. This typically evens out throughout the year and I feel like the work-life balance is pretty great.

Pros

Challenging work, excellent pay & benefits, and great internal growth opportunities. Your work will be both noticed and appreciated as promotions are done internally which means your superiors have traveled a similar path and understand your responsibilities. There are numerous areas to grow within the firm as the multiple business lines are constantly growing which creates opportunities for individuals to work on different types of projects. Management and above is receptive to your comments, and the flexibility available is tough to match. The company is clearly a step up from the big 4, and the company is very transparent in sharing updates within the firm. I have been working here for over a year, and have yet to look back once.

Cons

Like any project based work, there tends to be some overlap on projects which requires some juggling on behalf of seniors/managers in order to fully wrap a project up.

Pros

- Focused on success. Ample time onboarding/shadowing for new employees before working solo. Frequent social meetings, training sessions, and team meetings. Lots of opportunity for career growth with internal and external training and certification paths. - Compentitive pay. Schellman makes sure that you are well compensated, including a strong bonus program. - Lavish annual meetings. Many Schellman employees are work from home, so staff meets in person once a year. This year, Cancun, next year, Vegas.

Cons

- Mandatory hour reporting. Start of 2025, a mandatory hour tracking system was put into place. The system has been in production for almost a year. Management says timetracking is for increasing efficiency. Submission requirements get frequently stricter and now require multiple submissions a day. - Now involved with a private equity firm. The start of 2025 anounced that Schellman will be working with a Private Equity firm. Everyone has differing opinions on PE, so do what you will with this information. - Lavish annual meetings. This year, Cancun, next year, Vegas. For a company that is currently squeezing, these events feel uncomfortably expensive. - Overseas employment. Stated intention is to be an auxillary resource. Everyone has differing opinions on outsourcing, so do what you will with this information.
