      Strong company values and lack of bureaucracy make SEL a great place to work.

      Pros

      SEL is 100% employee owned, and feels like it. Most people in most divisions feel like they have a career and are working on something important. Pullman is small, but the universities bring in sports and entertainment.

      Cons

      Resources are stretched thin, leaving people to work doubly hard to get their jobs done. It's hard to think of many significant real issues.

      Pros

      Expectations are high. Nice facilities, cool products. Expectations are reasonably clear and I like most of the people I work with. There's a degree of transparency that's nice.

      Cons

      There are a limited number of positions outside of Pullman. Pullman is good enough for me, though. Lots of recreational opportunities. We're building a couple of new buildings and I'm not sure yet where I'll sit. It would be good to know that more in advance.

      Pros

      Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories provides a unique environment where Price, Performance, and Efficiency are key in all products. Provided with complex problems to solve and keep your brain busy. Access to newer technologies in the fields of manufacturing and engineering.

      Cons

      Expect to work 50+ hours per week, and at least 3 weekends per year. Requires negotiation on salary or you may fall below average. Does not always live up to the motto of "safer, more reliable, and more economical". Management receives little training and "home-grown" managers can be abrasive.
