Pros

I worked with some very talented people and loved the work-life balance when I started in 2011. Once the company got purchased from Scientific Games, it all went downhill. A lot of great people left or got laid-off.

Cons

Management became bullies once company was purchased. Pay raises and promotions froze for several years. What once was one of the top companies to work for in Chicago (WMS) fell very far from grace. I tried to stick it out for a couple years but things just kept getting worse. There was constant threats of mass layoffs every quarter which caused middle management to run many departments within the company like slave drivers. This killed any motivation to go above and beyond.

Pros

The folks in the HR division in Chicago were amazing! We all worked hard and had a lot of work but we worked together and got things done. We were moving the company forward.

Cons

With last merger, VP did not do diligent job of removing duplicate jobs, cost overruns, etc. Hired at a fast pace and then laid off 20% of the workforce. Layoffs every quarter make it unstable and not a fun company. With the motto of "have a great day" it is hard when you don't know if you will have a job.

Pros

everyone leaves you alone (even your managers)

Cons

far too disorganized, keep acquiring companies without really knowing what good they are. this in turn creates a confused and ineffective executive team. seems like a lot of power struggles and they focus on this more than their actual core business. on top of that, despite all the job listings on their site, seems that all they do is grow and that leaves most people redundant or ignored. they claim to have an amazing culture, but seems the opposite to me, unless you like watching executive management blow two grand a night drinking at the company's expense at the local bars. i would never work here if i weren't already here.
