Pros

Allows you to gain knowledge into emergency department interactions. Learn first hand knowledge of how doctors handle certain situations and overall gain healthcare experience.

Cons

No benefits whatsoever. Near minimum wage pay. Inconsistent scheduling even for so called "full time" position. Unprofessional "chief scribes" (varies per location). Exploitative company management strategies.

ScribeAmerica Response

ScribeAmerica offers benefits to its career-oriented employees, including medical benefits. All employees are currently eligible to contribute to our 401K-retirement plan. While the reviewer assumes that ScribeAmerica has little or no overhead costs, the reviewer is quite incorrect. All employers, including ScribeAmerica, incur payroll tax costs, insurance costs, payroll processing fees, and administrative expenses. In addition, employers in the medical industry, including ScribeAmerica, incur significant healthcare credentialing costs that allow its employees to work in medical facilities. Finally, ScribeAmerica provides significant paid training to all of its employees, which generates additional costs at the expense of revenue.

Pros

This job allows you to see so many things (in the ER, for example) and get great exposure to medicine. If you're going into a medical career, do this job first!

Cons

Schedule is very irregular, pay is low, and there is very little space for upward movement within a program.

Pros

Great experience to learn and grow for those who are studying to go into the Medical field. Great way to branch out in your contacts and to receive letters of recommendation from ER physicians.

Cons

A transitional employment, typically meant for college students. Hard to move up in position with this company, mostly due to the transitional nature of the employment. That being said, the experience and knowledge gained more than compensate for this.
