Pros

The Pros of working at Scripps college was the laid back atmosphere. The benefits were very good, and getting 2 free meals at the commons every week.

Cons

Scripps is notorious for severely under paying its employees. They offer tuition reimbursements but you have to apply and its not guaranteed. Promises regarding annual raises are not kept.

Pros

I loved most of the people I worked with, very cordial yet mostly respectful atmosphere. Benefits such as health care, dental, vision, retirement plans were superb. There was some opportunity for professional development as well as tuition reimbursement, great educational plan for dependents.

Cons

Office politics are a serious issue and sometimes interferes with professional dealings. Hiring is usually based on graduating from Scripps or one of the Claremont Colleges and will almost guarantee you a position (even with no experience). Favoritism is also an issue, maintaining the status quo is upheld here when there are certain things that really do need to change for a better educational institution. The ability for promotions is limited.

Pros

The office is a very happy environment to be in, with a tightnit community of AOs, student workers, and the dean of admissions. Truly everyone cared so much about their job, but still had personal lives and it was nice to see a good balance. Travel for the job also a major plus if you learn to link points to hotel chains/airlines.

Cons

The small workplace means if you wanted a more anonymous experience, definitely not going to get that here. Travel can also be a little taxing being away for days to weeks at a time while touring your region of admissions.
