Pros

Great healthcare plan, Location is beautiful, Nice gift shop, six paid holidays per year, job looks good on a resume, and

Cons

No job security. I've been with the company 10+ years. I was taking a job with another hospital and management asked me to stay promising a raise and new position within the company. I stayed and since then under new management was demoted. I'm not sure how Scripps earns so many awards. I've approached HR and upper management for help but they don't care. Raises and bonuses have come to a halt but Scripps expects employees to take on more job responsibilities. The physicians are treated like God's. They have free food catered for all their meals. They are paid a few thousand dollars as incentive for taking mandatory computer training.

Pros

Good job security with no lay-offs, Providers seem to really care about improving patient care, beautiful care facilities, and good healthcare benefits as long as seen by Scripps provider.

Cons

Too difficult to enact change with so many middle management layers (leads, supervisors, managers, directors, senior directors, assistant vp, etc. Benefits not as good as advertised, no 401k match. Very bureaucratic and political. Shirt and tie attire for IT organization.

Pros

i have met some really nice people that work their. At a few of the hospitals the doctors are good and helpful. Short drive from my house, and provides me with a paycheck.

Cons

Paper charting dates back 10 years, the computer charting portion of the assessment is outdated software when its not frozen its redundant and no one ever looks at it anyways (waste of time) . The system pays out millions of dollars in bonuses they should use that money to update their charting system. Medication scanning has proven to save millions of lives why does scripps not pay the CEO his bonus one year and update their system. The doctors notes are on paper as well as the orders, takes twice as long to read the chicken scratch. Doctors can be very difficult to get ahold of. Pay is on the low end of the spectrum for southern california systems.
