Pros

You'll NEVER get bored. There's plenty of work to do and a variety of cases to keep you interested.

Cons

Sedgwick will take advantage of you, work you like a dog, then fire you for no reason - other than they can hire two people for the cost of your salary. Their internal structure calls for Sr. Examiners to have 250 cases. Some of their Sr. Examiners actually have a pending of 400 or more cases. Industry standard is under 150, which is much more realistic for a Sr. Examiner to handle because their cases are typically much more complex legally (multiple defendants, questionable legal liability w/possible summary judgement, etc.), and have very severe injuries. Those kind of files require a lot more time and attention than your typical soft tissue injury that a less experienced adjuster can handle. That is why Sr. Examiners are assigned to handle them. Sr. Examiners typically work 50 to 60 hours a week just to keep their heads above water. If you want to actually do a good job, expect to work more than that.

Pros

Good pay and excellent benefits Obvious advantages to working for the industry leader Challenging work and a supportive culture Best employer I've ever worked for and the company is recognized as an employer of choice

Cons

Lots of time off, but critical staff rarely had the opportunity to use it Management didn't prioritize open communication with employees Company never said no to customers and never asked employees if something could be realistically accomplished - doing the impossible was routine business Little room for advancement; if you wanted a promotion, you were almost forced to leave the company
