Careful before you accept an offer

Pros

Ability to work remotely, somewhat competitive in salary.

Cons

High workloads plan on working minimum of 60 hours a week. Management does not recognize that this is a sweatshop and holds everyone’s feet to the fire regardless. Have had weeks where I had to put in 80 hours to keep my head above water. Health insurance plan worst I have experienced.

It sounds like you didn't have the kind of employee experience we aim to cultivate. Thanks for sharing so we can review, and best of luck in your next role.

Pros

The corporate culture at Selective is (in my opinion) one of the best I have ever experienced. Feedback is encouraged and while there is a traditional hierarchal approach to organizational structure, your opinion can easily be heard all the way up the ladder. Projects can come in droves and there is never a shortage of things to do but the work life balance is very good given the amount of work there potentially is. An on-site gym helps with work life balance as well as it's always a cinch to get a workout in each day.

Cons

The salary is not as competitive as one would hope. Part of this is a very slow process for promotion/raises. The health benefits pale in comparison to some other bigger companies. The location is also rather remote and can be difficult in winter months on one's vehicle.
