Pros

- good benefits - great HR

Cons

- management is completely incompetent and upper management is completely oblivious to this somehow - technology is moving backwards in time. HQ uses technologies from the 80s and brags about it - for some reason (even though HQ is in the middle of nowhere and they cant seem to hire anyone with any relevant experience) they are letting good people walk out the door and promoting people that add no value to the organization - young managers/directors with no real world experience are running the show, I wouldn't bet on the long term success of the organization (which is already on the decline with its personal lines division closing down)

Pros

Decent salary. They match you up to 6% on your 401k.

Cons

The claim volume is very high. Adjusters are micro-managed. There were times when I wasn't sure if I was looking for coverage or looking to disclaim it. There are too many programs purchased by the company that distract the adjusters from their job. Too much emphasis is placed on performance with these programs. Senior management claims that the numbers show improvement with the programs. If the claim volume per adjuster was reduced these programs wouldn't be needed in the first place.

Appleton Office leaves a bad taste

Pros

Being a remote office, with several different departments represented, there seemed to be more knowledge transfer between associates in the Remote Office. Good People. Having a company car assigned to the Office was a plus.

Cons

Management didn't seen to grasp the concept of managing remote people. Some workers had to go to Stevens Point 3-4 times a week. Health Care was very expensive. Benefits were below par. Comment was made (several times) that if the Remote Office closed, everyone would be able to work from home. That didn't happen. Lack of communication on the Daily happenings within the department. Management kept changing directions.
