Pros

Working for Sequoia has been an immensely rewarding experience for me personally. I feel that my work, experience, input and dedication is valued and appreciated within the organization. I value how well the home office and field teams work together. The organization, while encouraging a professional and polished culture, also fosters a family and personal atmosphere. There is no caddy behavior within the community and generally speaking everyone gets along well. We work hard and play hard too. Bonuses are good and they sky is the limit as far as income. Growth opportunities are available and the company is very supportive of personal growth and development. Sequoia is the best of the best! The Experience Matters does not just extend to our customers in this organization.

Cons

401K matching would be nice and Flexible Spending Credit Cards vs. reimbursements too. Another con is that employees are paid twice per month. It would be more convenient if pay was every other week.

Sequoia Equities Response

Hi there, First, I have to thank you for continuing to choose Sequoia as your employer of choice for more than 10 years! Thank you so much for your continued dedication and belief in the Company's vision. We also sincerely appreciate you taking the time to leave a review on Glassdoor. As you know by now, we recently announced our commitment to taking care of you through being able to match your 401k contributions. It's a huge win for our team members and the Company as a whole. I also appreciate your feedback on moving towards a flexible spending credit card and the change in the payroll. Although we have started our FSA program for 2016, I will look into the feasibility of moving towards the credit card this year. If not, we will work to make it happen in 2017. In regards to a bi-weekly vs semi-monthly payroll, there are pros and cons to both. We can also look at that for a possibility for 2017. As payroll schedules are set, it is best to make these adjustments at the beginning of the calendar year. Again, thank you for your years of service with Sequoia, your kind words, and your suggestions. Please keep them coming! Thank you, Enrica

Pros

Sequoia Equities has been the best job I have ever had. The positive experience started during the interview process. I spoke with a member of the marketing team who was able to answer all of my questions given I was completely changing careers had I been lucky enough to get the job. She assured me that there was plenty of training opportunities to take advantage of which made me feel confident that Sequoia was prepared to offer me a new career, not just an interim job. I was honest with the interviewers that I was ready to commit to a company that would facilitate my growth when deserved and in turn I would give 110% every day in order to ensure I was learning and growing daily. Sequoia kept their promise. I worked hard for them at the entry level and in-turn, I took every learning opportunity to grow. I found mentors within the business and grew my relationships with members of the corporate office. When I was ready for a change and to move up the ladder, Sequoia Equities listened. They cross-trained me on site, and my managers pushed me to interview for new positions. With this growth came change. When you work in property management, you have to be flexible. I was ready to GO (literally move) to the opportunity rather than waiting for it to come to me. This move was supported by the company and they appreciated the sacrifices that I have made for them. Appreciation is key here. They never steered me away from the opportunity given I was not local to the promotion. Over the course of the past 2 ½ years in working with Sequoia, I have promoted and grown with the help and support of my managers - both on a site level and regional level. The Executive Team has known my first name since day 1 and I am no exception to the rest of my coworkers. Most recently, I have promoted into the Corporate Office. While being on-site managing our beautiful apartment communities was an amazing opportunity, my Regional Portfolio Manager mentored me into applying for the promotion, giving me the confidence I needed to continue my growth. What I love about working for Sequoia Equities is the experience. I LOVE my job and that is very important to me and to my overall happiness. My coworkers are amazing both in the office and in our communities; I am truly lucky and look forward to a long career with the organization.

Cons

I have nothing negative to say about my company. I work hard and am supported at every turn and in turn, hard work is always acknowledged and rewarded.

Pros

I started with Sequoia Equities in 2003 and have seen our company grow through many updates, a re-branding, as well as add more properties to the company throughout the years. Every change that the company has made has been communicated well, and well executed. Sequoia has a high standard of excellence that they expect from their team members, and in turn, the experience provided to their residents is extremely positive. Sequoia truly values their employees; you feel like an important part of the team, not "just a number." Training is provided throughout the year, both in-person as well as online. Team members are provided with great benefits--vacation/sick days, holidays (including your birthday off), time off to volunteer, peer-to-peer recognition, annual company picnic, and annual holiday awards luncheon.

Cons

Depending on where you are located, sometimes you need to be open to relocating if considering promotion within the company.
