Pros

Move up quick if you know someone. Paid days off and 401K even though there's no match. Nothing else I can think of.

Cons

To many to list... No support from upper management or co workers is the biggest problem. No loyalty to staff. Makes you feel like a # and not a person.

Sequoia Equities Response

Hi there - Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback on your experience with Sequoia. I'm sorry you are not having a good experience with us. I hope you know it's certainly not our intention for you to feel unsupported or that you are just a number or that there are cliques in the corporate office. Please do give me a call directly to talk through your concerns. I would like an opportunity to help. On a side note, we did recently roll out 401k matching for our employees back in April. If you are not aware of it, please call me and I can help you with that as well. Thank you - Enrica

Pros

As a job the only pros for working within Sequoia are; A pay check Vacation days Medical coverage There are constant open positions due to people constantly leaving the company.

Cons

As a company that boasts "being one of best" they fall so very short and count on their employees ignorance in knowing any better. The incentives they offer are meager in comparison to other companies that are actually top ranked not self proclaimed. The medical benefits are highly overpriced in comparison again to most other companies. As for the culture they promote, it's not at all about being the best or being knowledgeable. It's about being friends with your boss and Lying about performance issues. There are employees in the HR department with personal friendships with on-site employees. Managers have been promoted unqualified over other employees based on relationships. In summation, this company talks very big but delivers very little in return. The training is poorly thrown together including the major fair housing and screening policies and regulations trainings.

Not good for your mental health

Pros

The only people I liked were my leaser and maintenance tech. They were the only two people who kept me around longer than I should have been.

Cons

It was one of the worst experiences of my life. I am seasoned in property management. I know how to do my job but upper management treats you like dirt. They never thought I could actually get my job done without having to micromanage me every single day. You couldn't get anything done because they constantly piled on more work for you to do and if it wasn't done in a timely manner, that's your fault even though I was told during the interview process that the RPM wasn't a micromanager (lie) HR will not help you. They do not care about their employees. They will use your words against you. They won't help you when you've expressed your concerns and how uncomfortable you are at your property. They express they are "all for mental health awareness" but in reality that couldn't be further from the truth. This company only care about making money. If your numbers are low they'll write you up even when you're doing everything you can and that was within the five months I worked for this company. It got so bad I was having panic attacks before work every morning. Don't get me started on other CM's who watch your every move and report to your RPM. They make decisions without consulting you first. Your property isn't even YOURS, it's everyone elses and the moment you try to stand up for yourself they shoot you down. No one will welcome you with open arms. It's every man for themselves. The Bay Area portfolio is a joke and so is the owner. It's absolutely disgusting how I was treated and I'm glad I left.
