Pros

-Benefits, Perks, Salary is decent, Bonus, Training.

Cons

Zero support from home office when it comes to residents that are violent, verbally abusive to the staff, or tell blatant lies in order to get free money or exploit the company for freebies. I have personally seen residents lie, curse out and threaten the staff in the office, then turn around and call home office and they are rewarded for their absolutely abhorrent behavior by getting free rent, gift cards, or cash credits. Corporate should back their employees, and trust the managers on site to handle each situation without giving everyone free money. It encourages the residents to berate the staff, lie, and slander us online because they know they can manipulate the system. If the experience matters, why is the experience for the employees so poor? Yes they provide us with amazing perks.. but the support to the staff from home office needs to change. Please stop allowing residents to treat your staff so poorly and back your employees when an issue arises. Why hire employees you do not trust to make judgment calls? This is by far my largest complaint. It seems that this new "feedback rich culture" is based solely on the residents feedback/complaints and not on the employees feedback.

Pros

Sequoia Equities has been the best job I have ever had. The positive experience started during the interview process. I spoke with a member of the marketing team who was able to answer all of my questions given I was completely changing careers had I been lucky enough to get the job. She assured me that there was plenty of training opportunities to take advantage of which made me feel confident that Sequoia was prepared to offer me a new career, not just an interim job. I was honest with the interviewers that I was ready to commit to a company that would facilitate my growth when deserved and in turn I would give 110% every day in order to ensure I was learning and growing daily. Sequoia kept their promise. I worked hard for them at the entry level and in-turn, I took every learning opportunity to grow. I found mentors within the business and grew my relationships with members of the corporate office. When I was ready for a change and to move up the ladder, Sequoia Equities listened. They cross-trained me on site, and my managers pushed me to interview for new positions. With this growth came change. When you work in property management, you have to be flexible. I was ready to GO (literally move) to the opportunity rather than waiting for it to come to me. This move was supported by the company and they appreciated the sacrifices that I have made for them. Appreciation is key here. They never steered me away from the opportunity given I was not local to the promotion. Over the course of the past 2 ½ years in working with Sequoia, I have promoted and grown with the help and support of my managers - both on a site level and regional level. The Executive Team has known my first name since day 1 and I am no exception to the rest of my coworkers. Most recently, I have promoted into the Corporate Office. While being on-site managing our beautiful apartment communities was an amazing opportunity, my Regional Portfolio Manager mentored me into applying for the promotion, giving me the confidence I needed to continue my growth. What I love about working for Sequoia Equities is the experience. I LOVE my job and that is very important to me and to my overall happiness. My coworkers are amazing both in the office and in our communities; I am truly lucky and look forward to a long career with the organization.

Cons

I have nothing negative to say about my company. I work hard and am supported at every turn and in turn, hard work is always acknowledged and rewarded.

Pros

I love working for Sequoia. The employee appreciation is unparalleled. I came from a terrible corporate environment. I had no idea a company like Sequoia existed. From simple things like corporate/management just verbally expression appreciation, to the huge events like Fun Day and the Holiday Luncheon, Sequoia constantly shows appreciation to all employees. Sequoia ensures that each employee is offered ALL tools necessary to learn about their position. Their training programs are fantastic! Getting promoted is a simple and quick process, as long as you are a good, hard working employee. The pay is great! Another company (grudgingly) offered me the same pay rate, for the same position, at a MUCH larger property.

Cons

Career Wear. The career wear policy has gotten much better over the years, but I still wish we could wear our own shirts (within the given guidelines) without being required to wear the suit jacket. Unfortunately, I understand the need for this policy, since many people would take advantage of the looser policy, in order to wear whatever they wanted, which risks the professionalism that Sequoia expects and requires. Like I said, the policy has evolved in the last few hears, and has gotten much more comfortable, while still remaining polished and professional.
