Pros

Everything was butterflies and rainbows in the beginning.

Cons

I had a very disappointing experience working at Servpro Team Shaw. From the start, there was a clear lack of organization and communication from management. Expectations were often unclear, yet employees were still held accountable for issues that could have been avoided with proper guidance and leadership. The owner Derek Shaw was constantly using the word “sexy” during meetings and made several woman very uncomfortable. He would tell some of the older women to dress younger and sexier. He and his wife Gabby would constantly make the remark that we’re going to make restoration sexy. Derek had a female business partner who bought into the franchise who ultimately sued him for sexual harassment, and they settled out of court. The work environment felt stressful and unsupportive. Instead of fostering teamwork, there was a noticeable culture of blame and favoritism. Hard work and dedication often went unrecognized, while concerns raised by employees were frequently dismissed or ignored. Training was minimal, which made it difficult to succeed in the role. New employees were expected to quickly figure things out on their own without adequate support, leading to frustration and mistakes that could have been prevented. Additionally, work-life balance was poor, with long hours and little consideration for personal time. Overall, my experience left me feeling undervalued and burned out. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for a positive, growth-oriented workplace.

Pros

There are no pros to working for Servpro

Cons

This is the worst company you could ever work for. Let me tell you about my experience… This company treats everyone like slaves who works there and management has no respect for anyone working under them. They constantly reprimand, intimidate, and speak to employees with such disrespect on a daily basis while simultaneously expecting employees to work over 12 hours each day. They find ways to not pay you overtime even though you work around the clock and are constantly told that it is not enough. If you get sick, you’re written up and reprimanded not to mention being treated like a second class citizen on a daily basis. They tell you to bring food from home and do not allow you time to eat meals, even though this is clearly a very physically demanding job. I was told to bring food from home and not to stop to get anything to drink or eat at the beginning of the day and encouraged not to take a lunch break or use the bathroom due to being so over scheduled with jobs on a daily basis. They schedule you for jobs late in the afternoon and tell you that it is within normal business hours so that they can have you work late into the evening. The way management speaks to you is very disrespectful and they take advantage of the fact that most of the employees are Hispanic and in need of work. If you are sick, they write you up and harass you with phone calls trying to get you to come into work and you have to explain yourself when you are clearly very ill. When it snowed a few weeks ago they used intimidation to try to get employees to drive into the office and risk their lives on icy roads and threatened to come and pick up employees so that employees could go to the warehouse and then drive Servpro trucks around the area and possibly get into accidents driving in such bad conditions. There is no customer service concerning the homeowners. The company tries to promote demolition when this is clearly not needed on many of the jobs. They take advantage of people in crisis whose homes are flooded and are only focused on making a profit. Take it from me, this is a terrible and abusive place to work. Avoid it like the plague.
