While it is great to get your hands dirty on various aspects, it does not foster growth / career enablement. Role definitions and responsibilities do not exist. Given the nature of the business, it is a question of delivery and the need of the hour is to pull up your socks and do it all. You can do this for a little while, but certainly cannot make a career out of it. As a natural extension, personal development and career planning are missing.
Another major issue is for a company this small, there were communication black holes. For a 50 person company, there is no excuse for not being able to communicate. Adding to it, a company this small should not have 'elitist' or 'privileged' groups who see more opportunity.
When the going is good, everything is great. But most of the practices were unsustainable.
A major con in my book was the lack of technology leadership. By being pushed under the gun to deliver, there were textbook examples of poor technology practices.
