Pros

pay is ok - not great but better than other firms I have been at. Availability to training for computer programs that you may not have otherwise been trained on.

Cons

benefits - insurance leaves a lot to be desired. Within the last year it feels like we are all now on the Seyfarth version of Big Brother. Everyone walking on egg shells - don't feel like anyone has job security anymore. Definitely not the same place it was when I started. Definitely doesn't care about the "work/life balance" as they claim to and have been recognized for. There is no such thing - they say the firm supports it but they most certainly do not, especially for women. It is sickening to see emails sent out by management about being named a top firm for this when in fact it couldn't be further from the truth. Local HR department very unresponsive - department has no one with any HR degree. There is no sense in complaining about anything because if you are not in the click - you have a better chance of winning the lottery than something ever being done about your complaint. Just not the same place it used to be.

Pros

Interesting work and some very nice people

Cons

Associates were unnecessarily competitive. Partners were focused on their individual success, not development and long-term success of the office.

Pros

Firm Name - imagine that! Really, the best thing was the firm covered the country. Midwestern billing rates made the efficiency on billables pretty easy, no clients really seemed to sweat the bills aggressively. Understood the concept of differentiation - hence, Seyfarth Lean, etc - showing progressive attempts as anticipating how legal practice would evolve.

Cons

History as L&E depressed income - partners couldn't understand how billing on contracts with effective rates of $250/hr for a partner prevented them from having take home pay like big boys (Kirkland, Jenner, etc.). Management didn't want to look under the hood - partners allowed to abuse associates because everyone had skeletons, so tacit agreement not to ask too many questions.
