Pros
If you are looking to work with top notch employment and labor practitioners, you cannot do any better. The thought leadership is immense in all areas of labor and employment law and associates are given great responsibility.
Cons
I am disheartened in firm policies, leadership, and culture. No one seems to care about employee wellbeing. Leadership talks a good game but their actions don’t match their lip service. Sick leave was recently taken away from associates (no longer billable time but instead contribution time). Associates were also told taking mental health time was frowned upon and not a proper use of sick leave, which was disheartening given the ongoing stresses of the pandemic and mental health problems in our profession. Hours are long and the work is stressful. There has been a large exodus of talent, which then overburdens remaining associates. There are many people who have made long careers at Seyfarth but that is a dying trend. The firm cannot retain talent these days.
