Pros

Great Leads and floor managers, and great opportunities for grown. Robust training programs.

Cons

Upper management seems to be disconnected from what is actually happening on the floors. So many “healthcare heroes” campaigns yet one of the lower paid hospitals.

I don't recommend working here, save yourself some stress.

Pros

It's Monday-Friday, good benefits. After a year you can work from home.

Cons

They expect so much from you. The way they grade the calls is ridiculous. Extremely micromanagement. No flexibility, it's extremely stressful. Calls are back to back, no time to get a drink of water. There's never appointments available and the patients are angry all the time. You're expected to promote Followmyhealth but patients are always complaining about the app. They expect you to stay after your shift, if you leave at exactly 5pm you get in trouble, overtime is basically mandatory. You have to let a supervisor know that you can't stay for overtime it's ridiculous.

Pros

Sharp constantly provides CEUs and requires bedside staff to renew their CPR/ACLS every 3 months with an in-house program. Which makes you feel more confident and knowledgeable when emergencies arise. Scheduling is pretty flexible and you usually get the time you asked for off. Health benefits and retirement benefits are great. Option to opt into the union if desired.

Cons

Patient demographics can be difficult at the Chula Vista location. Most patients do not speak English (which can be challenging if you're not bilingual), and the workload is heavy. PCU unit there is a ratio of 4 patients to 1 nurse. Most patients are very critically ill, the workload can be very demanding at times. You're always guaranteed a lunch, but most often you never have the time for a morning or afternoon break.
