Networking with employees at client companies can be difficult while balancing other tasks and maintaining a contractor/client relationship. Training is provided, but the trainers are not well-equipped and the training material itself is not good quality. You’re kind of just thrown into QA and advised by team members on how to go about testing features and bugs. You don’t need to have much QA experience to get hired, so lack of more training material is concerning. This company boasts being a launching pad for entry-level workers with little professional experience, but they don’t provide many opportunities for their workers to learn and grow as QAs or QA Engineers. They required new hire QAs to work in the office before moving everyone working from home to move into the office. Office sanitation was poor. Having lunch away from your desk was mandatory, and shared lunch spaces were often left with crumbs and spills on them. They claimed to have janitorial services, which seemed to only take out the trash. I was told employees had to clean the toilets in the individual bathrooms. There was a COVID outbreak less than a month after they started bringing people back to the office. It was the first and only time I contracted COVID, and I was vaccinated, as was everyone else. They shut down the office for the mandatory time and then told everyone to return to the office immediately after. One thing I thought was interesting was they had a software dev who was allowed to work remotely the entire time. I hope they have taken the time to improve worker conditions, revise worker requirements, and consider revising the training program.

Shasta acts like they're a stepping stone for tech industries, but thats pretty far from the truth. its not very impressive on your resume to have worked at shasta. After working at some large companies, you realize that shasta offeres nothing to your career that most large companies cant. Shasta has very mediocre training and doesnt have the money to help you take classes or get you good training. Shasta lets you move up the management chain if you stay for a few years which gets you a very low raise. people are making like $16 an hour and the rate that wage grows is extremely slow and is capped very low. work for a better company and youll be making over double that pretty much within a year. whereas it will take you 5 years to even get a few dollar raise ar shasta. This company is good if you literally have 0 job offers but dont want to have a blank spot on your resume. but you better be applying to other places the moment you get the job. Shasta doesnt have the money to keep you employed if they lose any clients. so they have layoffs all the time. you see all these good people lose their jobs here because shasta literally can't keep them. even if they were doing a good job and they were well liked. find a company that rewards you better than Shasta if possible. dont get complacent here because youll end up stuck. I guess if you win the lottery and need something to pass the time, working at shasta could be somewhat fun. but if you ever need money or want to have a solid career, stay away.
