Shepherd Center Response

It is disappointing to see this perspective of the employee experience while at Shepherd Center. There is a full-scale review of all staff salaries that will include a focus on internal equity. Our desire is to pay what the job is worth along with recognition of the experience, education, and performance of individual employees. Our door is always open for any employee to request information about how their compensation is determined.

Pros

Set scheduling is a huge bonus. I work the same schedule every week. Shepherd invests in continuity of care and we work as a team, it gives RNs and PCTs to get to know their patients and troubleshoot problems together. PCT’s are highly trained. They are deeply integrated with the patients rehab process as well. Management does its best to keep ratios low so we can provide the best care. Our culture is relaxed but dedicated to the mission of rebuilding lives after a catastrophic injury.

Cons

Working with patients with catastrophic injuries can be draining emotionally. Because we are a small hospital, promotion and growth opportunities are sporadic.

Pros

Shepherd Center gives the opportunity to grow. I have started as an Outpatient Access Specialist. While I was working at that Department, I was able to go back to College under a Shepherd Scholarship. I got my certification as a Health Care Interpreter. I worked there for 3 years then I saw the opportunity to move up and learn more at the Research Department. I had the opportunity to coordinate my first clinical trial and thanks to you all the support that I received that study was overall a success. I have reached 17 years working at Shepherd, and I am planning to continue giving the best of me to our patients, my coworkers, and the Center.

Cons

Any Cons to say about Shepherd.
