Pros

Do not work here. Seriously. I know you may think well maybe this person is just bitter and scorned, it’s not that. I’m writing this to warn others as a PSA.

Cons

It’s the worst workplace. I have PTSD from working here. Abusive egotistical leadership who treat anyone outside of their inner circle like dirt under their shoe. The pay they offer is under market with very expensive benefits that keep getting worse every year. Got worse and worse as they squeeze you thinner and thinner with less resources. They are having all remote staff return to the office starting in 2025. No women in leadership positions. Leadership all turns over constantly abruptly. Feels so chaotic and little job security, never know which programs they will suddenly shut down with no notice. No paid maternity or paternity leave. Terrible work life balance for new parents. Nickel and dime you at every turn. It’s snowing and you feel unsafe driving in? Too bad! You have to work on Christmas and major holidays. Someone leaves, no temp to replace them, you just have to do double the work. No perks to the job. Felt so unsafe with how understaffed. This will suck the life out of you. Worst job of my life and have 15 years of experience.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re truly sorry to hear that you felt this way during your time as an employee, and we appreciate you being willing to provide candid feedback. We recognize how important a healthy work-life balance is. Some roles require in-person care, including on holidays and during inclement weather; we strive to be clear about in-person expectations and provide support where we can. We will continue to work closely with department leaders to regularly evaluate which roles can be performed remotely or on a hybrid-schedule and which require in-person attendance. Our benefits are regularly reviewed to ensure they meet the evolving needs of our employees. While we don’t currently offer employer-paid parental leave, we provide options like short-term disability, FMLA, and PTO to support new parents. We recognize the importance of diverse and stable leadership. We’ve made progress at all levels of the organization and are committed to continuous improvement through our Leadership Academy. If you’d like to share more, we welcome the opportunity to listen and learn. Please reach out to us directly at employee-relations@sheppardpratt.org.
