Pros
-Definitely able to gain experience working in the mental health field, exposed to a lot of different types of clients with varying mental illnesses. - Able to apply to different jobs within the organization once you are in and easily transder - Able to work OT if you want - Paid time and a half for holidays and OT - Some awesome clients and staff - Independence in work - Build great rapport with clients
Cons
- LOW pay - Hard to get time off especially as a service coordinator because you are the only one in that position.. no one wants to pick up extra work if you need your own time, or coworkers will guilt you for asking about it - Some work environments were very catty and manipulative between coworkers - People easily burn out due to low pay and minimum time off - Never ending paper work that takes up so much of your time - Extremely large caseload (29 clients!) which makes it too hard to meet with clients in the timeframe that is expected of you each month - Bedbugs! - Sometimes staff is put in dangerous situations with violent clients that shouldn't be in this type of program
