      Mental Health Worker

      Pros

      This is a great place to work overall, and you get great psychiatric care experience. The MHW role is a good stepping stone if you are looking to advance your career in the field. I love being a direct part of each patient's care and gaining a new experience with each person. I love the unit I work on and the staff I work with. The staff are professional and very knowledgeable about their patients. I hope to have a long career with SP!

      Cons

      The MHW doesn't allow for too much growth, unless you become lead MHW. While it is a great position, the hospital has changed its staffing policies which greatly affect morale in the MHWs. You may be hired for a specific unit and trained there, but when there are staffing needs in other parts of the hospital, you have to go there a lot, without proper training. The pay is low and there is a high mandation rate, but I love what I do so I'm willing to put up with some things. That doesn't mean it's not stressful and I hope with the new CEO there will be positive change!

      Good Place to Work

      Pros

      Good experience. Support from all staff. Management looks out for employees and helps where they can.

      Cons

      High turnover rate. Low pay compared to local school systems especially considering high behaviors dealt with from students.

      Cons

      Management is bad. No consideration for employee needs. High turnover. Stressful working conditions. Constantly understaffed.
