Pros

Snacks, free food, and a modern tech stack they use. Decent pay.

Cons

People and Culture. Management holds grudges for months over minute issues that were easily fixed. Management often transfers blame to subordinates. My manager held a grudge on me for months for not camelcasing my variable names in my first Pull Request I ever did for the company. Management has 0 planning ability, thus engineers are forced to manage themselves such creating your own tickets at the beginning of each 2-3 week sprint. Management castigates you if you forget a minute conceptual detail, despite lacking basic concepts in Math, Stat, or Programming. I have wasted so much time explaining basic statistics to my manager who had an Engineering Master's. They talk about "saving lives," but there are many other drone companies out there that are more advanced than what is being made here.

Pros

Noble mission, some talented engineers

Cons

Like others, I ignored some bad reviews here because I was excited by the opportunity to work on new technology and to do something meaningful for my country. Over 2 and a half years, I came to be deeply disappointed in both the technology and the vision. At first I thought the HR problems were the result of inexperience, but, over time, I came to see that there was something deeply toxic in the company's treatment of people. I'm a cis-man, but even I could see that women are treated poorly, and there is no diversity. People who are dedicated are let go for reasons I can't determine. Repeatedly, I saw the failure of impossible and misconceived projects blamed on solid engineers who put in insane hours trying to meet deadlines that were invented to please senior management. This treatment of people isn't accidental, either; this company is unethical to its core. I wish it could be what they market it to be, but a company that lies so consistently to its employees also lies about its product. At base, the product can't do what it claims to do, and no one in the technical chain of management is competent enough to understand this. There are very talented engineers at the middle and senior level, but they're hamstrung by the direction coming from senior management. I had significant equity and experience in software engineering and technology management, and I was really excited to work here. I ignored all the negative reviews on Glassdoor - if you're entertaining an offer, I hope you'll learn from my mistake and think twice about this company. Management will lie to your face; you will work extended hours for nothing because upper management really has no clue what they are doing, and they are unwilling to listen.

Pros

- Lots of good people - Cool tech - Cool location - Great idea - Career mobility (but heavily skewed toward nepotism) - Lots of passion

Cons

- Severe nepotism - Male-dominated, and at times, hostile toward women - Poor work-life balance (40 hr work week will be seen as a failure) - Inept leadership... Seriously, it’s incredibly dysfunctional - Mid-level managers are too junior and have no idea how to actually lead their peers. They try though - Contradictory values - Overpromising and underdelivering… next WeWork, except at least that was successful appearing - Funding round after funding round. You can actually get 1/5 of the way through the alphabet in funding rounds they’ve conducted. Solid indicator that it’ll never go public
